One forgotten race of droids from Star Wars Legends are actually one of the most terrifying threats to the entire galaxy. The classic Star Wars Expanded Universe - branded "Legends" after Disney acquired Lucasfilm - had a lot of room to explore the early history of the galaxy. Many of the most enjoyable stories were told when talented authors like Daniel Wallace creatively reinterpreted earlier tales, and a race of droids known as the Silentium are one of the most fascinating.
The Silentium were an incredibly ancient droid species from another galaxy, first appearing in L. Neil Smith's Lando Calrissian Adventures back in the 1980s. They were first introduced through the single, star-shaped silver droid named Vuffi Raa, who was won by Lando Calrissian in a game of sabacc, becoming his partner in future adventures. But it was only revealed years later, that Vuffi and the rest of his kind were actually an ancient, and possibly terrifying, threat to the galaxy.

The Silentium Are One Of The Most Terrifying Threats In Star Wars The Silentium were first created as simple droid servants for a star-shaped organic species eventually wiped out by radiation from a nearby star. These droids lived on, replicating themselves and creating their own distinct culture and society. They worshiped specific prime numbers, and thought of geometry as being very holy, an interesting iinsight into the kind of culture that could arise from a wholly mechanical species. The most powerful Silentium could grow their forms to be as large as fifty kilometers, and the two leaders of the species were called "The One" and "The Other," with every other Silentium falling under the label "The Rest".
